Everton winger Donovan accepts he must return to LA Galaxy
Landon Donovan accepts the trip to Birmingham City will be his final game for Everton.
After LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena stressed Donovan's attendance was required in Los Angeles in four days' time Everton conceded defeat in their attempts to keep Donovan.
However, the American, who scored two goals in nine Barclays Premier League appearances, will leave Merseyside the better for his experience.
"When I think of everything at Everton I want to think of the trip as a whole and think that I have been successful," he told evertonTV.
"It has been fantastic and I could never have expected when I got here that it would turn out like this.
"The fans want you to play as hard as you can when you are out there.
"That is what I like to give when I am out there and they want to see the team win."
